01.24.2007 New Practice Times for Spring 2008

There are new practice times and locations for the spring 2008 semester. I've updated the listings on the schedule page. We're still working on reserving space for Sundays, and that information will be posted as it becomes available.

09.13.2007 New Practice Times

Hello, everyone. It's a new school year, and that means a new practice schedule for AZero. I've updated the times on the schedule page.

Oh yeah. A jam called Zero Gravity is going to be held on September 22nd, 3 PM at Noyes Community Center. The event is sponsored by Red Bull and will be the first bboy jam to ever take place on the Cornell campus. Everyone should go.

04.22.2007 2nd Place at Breaks IC

Yesterday (Saturday) was Breaks IC, a local jam held by Ithaca College, and we entered the event with six two-man crews. There were crews from a few other cities (Oswego, Binghamton, Elmira, and Syracuse), but with six crews, we definitely made up a majority of the participating bboys. Consequently, some of us ended up having to battle each other, which was silly. The crews we sent were:

  • InVincible (Vincent Lin) & Otacon (David Hoang)
  • Phil Croy (Phil Kim) & Slobro (William Chou)
  • Pixel (Alex Chao) & See-See (Chris Cheung)
  • Luke Nuk'em (Luke Han) & Quick Nick (Nick Kwok)
  • Sean John (Johnson Chen) & Anson Lin
  • Yoon Kim & Anthony Wang

Chris and I got to the final round, but lost to some cats from Syracuse who killed just about everything we had. Chris ran out of sets, and I tripped on myself. 'Twas sadness. Yoon and Anthony also got pretty far and finished in fourth place, losing to the Ithaca College crew.

Though small, the event was a good experience for all of us, and we met some cool bboys from different parts of New York. The Syracuse guys were especially cool, and we had a chill little cypher for a few hours in Collegetown after the battle. A few things that could use some review though:

  • Olympic-figure-skating-style scoring and judging are weird and not encouraged.
  • A battle is not an opportunity for you to throw down random tricks whenever you feel like it. One at a time, please.
  • Foundation is important.

Props to the IC Breakers for organizing the whole thing.

04.09.2007 Anson Blows Up Chairs

Just kidding. At session on Sunday, Anson nailed a blow-up airchair. I went crazy and jumped up and down like a little kid on Christmas morning.

Anyway, I re-designed our website because I had a little extra time on my hands and because the last update to the website had been March 16, 2006, which is just sad. The thing about bboys is that when it comes to doing anything other than dancing, we're kinda sorta lazy.

There's still a lot of stuff that needs to be added, so, as Samuel L. Jackson advises in Jurassic Park...

Hold on to your butts!
