Letter from the EditorWe are now approaching the end of the semester. It has been quite a journey this fall for
Black Perspectives. Our staff has taken some pretty big risks by introducing drastic changes to the paper’s layout and content. Nevertheless, I could not be happier with the responses that we have been getting. The positive feedback only reassures us that there is indeed a place for
Black Perspectives on this campus. Continue to give us your thoughts on the progress of the paper, whether good or bad. We do take them into account as we move into our subsequent issues.
Furthermore, I appreciate all of the new writers who have decided to work with the newspaper and voice their opinions. Others are encouraged to do the same. We are called
Black Perspectives for a reason and we would like to embrace all of the opinions of our readers in the African Diaspora. If you have something that needs to be heard, say it. We provide the medium for your opinions to be voiced. Take advantage of this opportunity. On that same note, if you have taken the time to pick up a copy of our newspaper, please encourage friends and faculty here at Cornell to do the same. This is a community publication and it cannot thrive without the support of the community.
Finally, a word of encouragement: In these final weeks before the semester comes to a close, studying is important but make sure to set some time aside to rest. Rashel Dorleans said it best in her article (see the "Opinion" section): we are not superheroes, nor should we try to be. Cornell can get extremely stressful towards the homestretch but, as long as you organize and prioritize, things shouldn’t be too hectic for you.
Best of luck to you all and we’ll see you in the last issue of the semester.
