Big Red Invitational - Rules1. This is a USBC certified tournament. Entrants must hold a valid USBC membership card and must be members of USBC Collegiate. Non-USBC members may qualify for the tournament by purchasing an affiliated membership from the USBC for $21 plus a $25 USBC Collegiate fee. 2. This tournament is hosted by Cornell University , located in Ithaca , NY . The bowling center is Cort-Lanes located in Cortland , NY , right off of interstate 81. The tournament director is Brian Levine ( bl76@cornell.edu ; Cell: 917-805-5515). He makes the final decisions regarding any discrepancy or clarification in the rules that might arise during the tournament. 3. The tournament field is limited to 22 total entries. Entries are accepted once the roster has been submitted by the team's representative via e-mail or through our online entry form. You will receive confirmation via e-mail. Payment is preferred beforehand, but you may pay the day of the event at check-in. There is a deadline of Saturday October 24 th for all “A” and “B” teams. After this deadline, we will accept entries for “C” teams and late entries as space allows. However, please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to bring additional teams. 4. The tournament field will be comprised of two divisions—men's and women's. Mixed teams shall compete in the men's division. The team roster is limited to eight bowlers. Teams with fewer than 5 bowlers will receive zero pins for each missing bowler per frame, and no make-up frames will be allowed. Three substitutions are allowed per team game and per baker game. Once a player is substituted out they can not come back in until the next game. Proper attire must be worn. This means matching team shirts for both men's and women's teams. No jeans will be permitted. 5. All teams will bowl in the same squad. Teams will bowl a total of 6 team games on Saturday. Teams will bowl 15 baker games on Sunday. Womens teams will bowl together for the baker games. Total combined pinfall over the two days determines final winner in each division. Scholarship awards will be distributed based on this pinfall. Plaques will also be given out for high game, high series, and high average for both men and women (~$5/team of prize fund will go towards plaques). 6. Food will be available for sale at the bowling alley snack bar throughout the day. You are also welcome to bring your own food into the alley. 7. A block of rooms has been reserved at 4 hotels in Cortland , NY . All are within 10 minutes of the bowling center.
