Northern Lights: Recent Canadian Cinema

Wednesday 25 April, 7:00 PM (In Between Days)
Friday 27 April, 7:15 PM (Kardia)
Tuesday 1 May, 7:15 PM (Kardia)
Cornell Cinema, Willard Straight Hall

We've teamed up with the Cornell Cinema to present three small gems to come out in recent years. First up is Falling Angels (2003), "the wryly funny story of three sisters coming of age in a wildly dysfunctional family. Set against the backdrop of sixties' free love, the Cold War, LSD and the dawn of feminism, Falling Angels is a sardonic look at what really goes on beneath the surface of suburban harmony and bliss" (Toronto Film Festival). Next is In Between Days (2006), a Canadian co-production with the US and South Korea, but shot and set in Canada, telling the story of a displaced young Korean woman coming of age in a strange land. We conclude with Su Rynard's Kardia (2005), about a pathologist who discovers that the experimental heart operation she underwent as a child has mysteriously linked her life with another's.
