About Asia Night 2008: Clash of the Tofus!

April 26, 2008 | 8pm - 1am | Duffield Atrium!

Asia Night 2008 will be unlike any other Asia Night

While we are still billing Asia Night as a pan-Asian culture show, we are incorporating several elements that will help to make the event more interactive, entertaining, cultural & fun for you! Below are some of the highlights

TofuMAN?

Who is TofuMAN?

Tofu is by far one of the most cherished and shared food ingredients across all Asia Cultures. In view of our aim to break traditions and provide Asia Night with a new look and feel, CAPSU decided to create TofuMAN as a mascot of Asia Night 2008. We designed TofuMAN to not only have a unique appearance but also a set of personalities and attributes that aligns with the atmosphere we are hoping to create for Asia Night. Various physical and personality designs were carefully examine during the process. Although we decided on one single design as the main TofuMAN, members of CAPSU grew too attached all the TofuMAN characters that we are planning to create a whole TofuMAN Family. STAY TUNED and GET EXCITED for the fun, energetic and loving TofuMAN Family who will make their first appearance in April 24th, 2008!

Food & Booths

Like in previous years, we are inviting our member organizations to set up booths to showcase their rich heritage and culture. Along side this display, organizations will also provide food for you to taste. You can expect to see the following:

  • Pad Thai
  • Curry Chicken
  • Dumplings

Professional Performances

There will be "professional" performances presented by select talented groups on campus. We aim to showcase the myriad diversity within the Asian community and to foster intercultural exchange. Expect to be dazzled! Please keep all appendages within your vehicle.

Why are we playing GAMES (click link above for a list of games)?

This year's main show is composed of both performances as well as competitive team-based games that engage the general audience. The purpose of the these games is to promote integration and interaction within the Asian and Asian-American Community. We want participants of Asia Night not just to sit and watch, but to play and become engaged. The games will be intertwined with the performances to maintain energy and enthusiasm throughout the night. All members of the winning team will receive 10 extra raffles for the grand prize of a Samsung 32" Plasma Television.

How do we form teams? How does it work?

When you enter the venue, you will be automatically assigned to one of the teams . You will also receive a complimentary customized hand fan with a Tofu logo on one side. Then, you can visit the "Master Game Booth" and sign up to become a representative for your team for a game. You can only sign up for 1 event; but, you are not required to sign up for any games if you don't want to. Even if you don't sign up, you will still become an integral part of the game through the use of your fan. CAPSU will delegate a representative within CAPSU as the team captain of each team.
