More Precious than Gold: Finding my Worth in God's Eyes (Women Study)

Tuesday @ 9:00 PM • Eddygate 5C
Cynthia Kwong (ck265@cornell.edu), Van-kim Bui (vdb7@cornell.edu)

Let's face it. When we look around for the “perfect woman,” we get a jumbled mess of images: models, housewives, take-charge businesswomen…what kind of ideals are we supposed to live up to? In this study, we will dive into the Bible, concentrating on 1 Peter, and explore what God says a woman's role should be and how we can apply these principles to live a Christ-centered life in the midst of chaos. We will also learn how we can, as sisters in Christ, build a community of support and care for one another through prayer, discussion, and accountability.

Jeremiah

Thursday @ 7:30 PM • Eddygate 4E
Henry Wen (yhw2@cornell.edu), Judy Liang (jhl49@cornell.edu)

It's been 400 years since the peace, blessing and hope that came with the establishment of the Davidic Throne over Israel; the throne that God promised would endure forever. However, the Kingdom was split into Israel and Judah; then the Northern Kingdom fell. Now the Chaldeans are pounding at the gates of Jerusalem, and the fall of Judah is imminent. These are the days of Jeremiah and the last kings of Judah. The book of Jeremiah is the words of the LORD that came through Jeremiah accusing Israel of the vilest of sins and telling of coming judgement and destruction. What went wrong? What caused God who is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love to pronounce irrevocable judgement on the people he so dearly loved? What does this ancient history have to do with us today, and how do these most lamentable of times point us to the Cross? Join us this semester as we explore the book of Jeremiah (with excursions into 2 Kings) to learn about the nature of our sin, the reality and reasons behind God's wrath, and the hope of salvation.

1 Peter: Your Spiritual Support Team

Wednesday @ 8:00 PM • Eddygate 5C
Shawn Liang (xl78@cornell.edu), Mandy Zhao (myz3@cornell.edu)

The Christian life is like a grueling bicycle marathon. The joys of gliding downhill are often overshadowed by the more frequent times of having to struggle our way up steep climbs. We get weary and feel like quiting. The finish line seems nowhere in sight. Fortunately, God has given us the ultimate support team to assist us. Peter says that he has written this letter to “encourage you and testify that this is the true grace of God” (5:12). With the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the fellowship of other believers to encourage us, we'll be able to complete the race and finish strong! Come find out more about your spiritual support team and how to be anchored in God's Word!

Seeker's Study: Jesus is…

Wednesday @ 7:00 PM • North Campus

Eric Yau (ety2@cornell.edu), Janice Cheong (jc633@cornell.edu)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” -John 3:16. Who is God's Son, Jesus? Jesus says of himself: “I am the bread of life,” “I am the light of the world,” and “I am the good shepherd,” for example. What exactly does He mean by those statements? We're going to see what it means to know Jesus, what He's all about, and why He came to live on earth. So come join us as we try and figure out why the message of the Gospel matters so much to us!
