This Friday night, the Institute of Biblical Studies will be held at Call Auditorium in Kennedy Hall (beside trillium) at 7:30pm. Dr. William Edgar will be giving a talk entitled "Can we be good without God?" (blurb below)
We encourage all CBSers to go, but if you're not interested, there will be a praise/sharing gathering in Phillips 101 at the normal time, 7pm.
Both are great ways to worship God, so lets approach them with an honest heart!
ACEs will be afterwards in apartments - and there's a skit meeting for those involved at 9:30pm in the room that's been used the past two weeks.
ALSO, if anyone is interested in attending the free Saturday night Jazz concert/Lecture entitled "Heaven in a Nightclub" (blurb below), please reply to Oliver (osc3) or Joe (jc479) and we'll arrange rides.
Can we be good without God? Friday 7:30pm Call Auditorium In exploring several answers to this question, we will consider the relationship of goodness to power, and locate the source of goodness in the love of God. The lecture will be illustrated with accounts of goodness and power in Augustine's Confessions, in Chinese Cultural Christians, and in the village of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon during the Second World War.
Heaven in a nightclub Saturday 7:30pm Women's community building This spiritual story of jazz music, illustrated at the piano, takes us back into the history and the music of African-Americans, where the church and the gospel message had a major influence. The narrative of deep misery and deep hope emerges in the different genres, including ragtime, blues, and spirituals

Heya CBS,
This week, Louie Rudin, who works with young life, is going to teach us about loving each other as Christians using John 13.
ALSO ---- PLEASE BRING YOUR SCHEDULES for this semester, as we will be signing up for Bible Studies!
p.s. please please be on time (7 pm) for CBS. for convincing reasons, please see the coworkers notes, below
Coworkers notes from this past Sunday, 1/29
Alumni weekend - with discussed benefits of being an encouragement to past CBSers and so that they might share with us perspective, we voted unanimously to host an alumni weekend in early April
Prayer meetings - after discussions about whether to open prayer meetings to the public, votes from those attending each prayer meeting directed us to change nothing with NCPM, WCPM, CTPM, and to open invite for one of the early-birdie prayer meetings, along with sage times if that is started again. - key ideas discussed include: the intimacy and trust within prayer meetings is valuable; topical prayer meetings (some provided by other fellowships) are effective in encouraging corporate Body prayer; it is worthwhile to open up to other fellowships and prayer meetings are a good venue for this
Finances - praise God for providing through alumni donations
Additional Discussion and Prayer - continued prayer for bonds of fellowship within and with the freshman class to grow throughout this semester and to step into challenges as first year wraps up - lateness in arrival and entrance is proving to be a discouragement for praise team and those who arrive on time - let's all make an effort to be punctual so that we can worship together
