Hey all, There will be NO pre-CBS prayer meeting and CTPM this week (cause there's no large group tonight/ people will be moving out tmmrw.) Though we're all catching up on a whole semester's worth of sleep and chillin with everyone cause we finally can, let's not forget to go to our own prayer closets (Matthew 6:6) to praise God. He alone has carried us through crazy final schedules and this whole school year, Amen? Hebrews 10:25 says... "Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another- and all the more as you see the Day approaching." There are no more official "prayer meetings" this year, but let's start off this summer break before His throne-- seeking Him in our personal times and continually praying for/ with one another. He's still worthy and we're still family! Press on brothers and sisters! in Christ, CBS Prayer/Inreach ministries (Gal. 6:2) p.s. Prayer request? Send it in! p.p.s If you're far away this summer, you can always pray via phone, email, even AIM! More importantly, take heart because Christ Himself is always praying for us! (Hebrews 7:25)

Extended Praise at Mott House

Yo CBS, So this Friday is traditionally "extended praise" where we come together and sing songs for like...2 hours. It's pretty crazy. BUT, while these extended times of music can be a lot of fun, we gotta be aware of a big CAUTION sign that says: "For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgement of God rather than burnt offerings" (Hosea 6:6). And if we've sped past that warning sign, then slow down and listen to Isaiah 29:13, where the Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me." This is one lesson Praise Team has been learning all year - that it's not about picking the catchiest song set (sometimes we don't need songs at all!); it's about preparing our hearts to draw near to the God who is enthroned in our praise. And notice this, that "the God of our worship" is not only the God who is the focus of our praise, but the One who enables us to worship Him rightly at all! Check it out: O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. (Psalm 51:15-17) So rather than just turning this Friday into a nice sing-along where we bring the rubbish we have and call it "praise," I challenge us to think through the fact that worship is never about us and what WE want to do; worship is always focused on Christ. When Christ is lifted up, he will draw all men to himself (check out John 12:32). That being said, while reflecting upon the end of classes and God's faithfulness to us in every little and big way, if there is a song you feel the Spirit placing on your heart, please email the request to me BY THURSDAY NIGHT. To recap: Extended Worship Friday - 7PM Mott House (203 Wyckoff, North Campus) - not Philips 101! Join us in heart as we seek to "find out what pleases the Lord" (Ephesians 5:10). Peace inside, Alex
