CBS BlogThursday, August 31, 2006CBS Friday: "BE here."8/31/2006 04:46:00 PM Last week we started talking about the theme this year for CBS: "Be." A bit funny sounding, yes, but it's the emphatic and FURIOUSLY PRESENT name of the God of our worship: "I AM WHO I AM." In the Hebrew, this name simply means to "be" or to "become." We talked about how in John 1:14, "The Word BECAME flesh [in Christ] and made his dwelling among us," how it was this God who from the very beginning came down to reach us - not the other way around. But how does this apply to our fellowship? What does this mean for us? It means everything, because it changes the way we think about God: "...be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2). He is not distant and indifferent; He is here and active. Matt and I know that many of you were excited after hearing the vision, if not a little confused or, at least, hungry to know more. This week we will elaborate on how "Be" fits into CBS. Or, more accurately, how our CBS family engages a God who overcame death....to be with us. It may not be what you expect - there are no "5-step programs" on how to apply Be into your life - but as the ministry team leaders share how they have wrestled with this furiously-present I AM, we'll see how "Be" is also an invitation for you to personally meet this God who will blow your mind away, whether you think you already know Him or not.
