CBS Friday: Family and Grace

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2

CBS Friday: 7PM @ Phillips 101

Hey Family,

Just wanted to say I think it's pretty cool how this year has been so far at CBS.  From the start, we've been looking at the family God has given us, realizing that just because we come together on Friday nights doesn't necessarily mean we're a family.  It's a little more real than that, more in-depth.  Family is something we grow in, and it's something that requires the Father's grace.

Tomorrow night we will be taking the next step...and it's a bit of a challenge.  My pastor from back home, Hoang Ho (it's pronounced "WONG") will be talking about the importance of confession - to God, yes, but also to each other as part of the body of Christ.  The straight-up reality is we can't walk this thing alone, nor were we meant to.  But while that may be a little scary at first, it leads us to one of the best things God has given in this life - the blessing of family.

 6 "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
       to loose the chains of injustice
       and untie the cords of the yoke,
       to set the oppressed free
       and break every yoke?
 7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
       and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter
       when you see the naked, to clothe him,
       and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
 8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
       and your healing will quickly appear;
       then your righteousness will go before you,
       and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.  - Isaiah 58:6-8

Peace,
