Happy New Year! Welcome Back for the spring semester.
The Photos section of the site is currently getting another facelift. Some of the galleries are already updated (e.g. Third Eye Blind, Ludacris). Sadly, our webmaster does not know most of the older Concert Commission members. If you are in the photos and wouldn't mind being mentioned, please let Bob know.
Currently we are hard at work getting our spring line-up set. Check back soon for an update!

Thank you to everyone who went to the concert this past Sunday. It was an amazing show.
As the semester comes to an end, we hope that you don't let finals drag you down. Let the music carry you. That being said, we're always up for suggestions for next year. If you know of a band who has a new album coming out or will be touring, please shoot us an e-mail at concert@cornell.edu.
Members, please check back here for more information regarding a potential end-of-semester bonding activity (which would take place the week after Thanksgiving).

Your e-board knows how all of your professors are piling on the assignments before fall break. The gods of rock have told us that work before play is the way, so there will NOT be a meeting this Thursday.
Also, applications are due on Thursday, October 18th by 5pm (our normal meeting time). They can be found under the members only tab. Please remember that you must have at been an active member for at least 2 semesters to apply.

With prelims just getting underway, the e-board felt that we'd give you all a little extra time to study/relax. Therefore, there will NOT be a meeting this Thursday. Any news we get will be conveyed through the list-serv.
Good Luck with your prelims!

Although we had a wet concert last weekend, it was still a great success. Thanks to everyone who came out to see it.
As of now, the photos section of the site has been updated. There are no captions yet, but the photos are great. Take a look for yourself.
This week's meeting will NOT be in McGraw 165. Please check back here or your e-mail for the room location.

Pack your bags for the fall semester. You don't want to be late for this FREE Concert provided by none other than Cornell Concert Commission.
Who: The National with special guests White
Rabbits
When: Saturday August, 25th (the first weekend after classes
begin)
Where: Cornell's Arts Quad
How much: FREE!!!
What time: 6-9PM (approximately)
In case you haven't heard of either band, here's what Rolling Stone had to say about The National:

"Graphic design school drop-outs Matt Beringer (vox) and Scott Devendorf (bass) recruited Devendorf's brother Scott, plus fellow Ohio natives (and twin brothers) Aaron and Bryce Dessner to play music together after relocating separately from Cincinnati to Brooklyn in 1999. The fivesome started recording tunes on a lark, crafting orchestral anthems that drew sonic inspiration from Guided By Voices, The Smiths, the Replacements and Violent Femmes. Eight years and four albums later, the quintet has arrived, first with the release of 2005's Alligator, an indie-rock blockbuster that sold more than 60K, and this month with the critically loved The Boxer -- a strings-bolstered collection of epic blue-collar yarns."
As for our opener, Spin.com says:

"Brooklyn six-piece White Rabbits dive into a set of nine near flawless tunes. Layering concertgoers with a thick coating of hazy vaudeville piano jangles, airy lead guitars, and genre-negotiating drum patterns."
All-in-all, this is a concert you definately don't want to miss. Plus it's FREE; how can you resist?
