FOLLOWING PROJECTS, GET IN TOUCH WITH THE CONTACT PERSON FOR THE SPECIFIC
PROJECT******
 

I.  Past week volunteering
    A. Bruce went to Unity House, played cards with some of the residents
    B. Lisa attended the Advocacy Training at Loaves and Fishes where she
    learned about social services available in the Ithaca area and heard a
    speaker about mental health issues
    C. People also volunteered at Loaves and Fishes
II.  We broke up into groups according to the various on-campus events
being worked on this semester
    A. Sleepout - Mike, mjm62
        1.  Benefit concert, Bruce and Mike are on it. let us know if you have any prefs
        2.  Day of service, gonna spruce up red cross, Jesse's got it covered
        3.  Speakers:  Michael Stoops, Maurice Hinchey, Mike is coordinating
        4.  Candlelight vigil, Amanda's all over getting some religions represented
        5.  Panhandling, need to make & get cans, put on coalition logo, any takers?
        6.  Getting sleeping bags so we stay warm, Julia's taking care
        7.  Publicity, gots to go crazy, Amy is gonna design a poster
        8.  Are there any profs you want to invite? email Mike, mjm62
    B. Ithaca Hunger Banquet - Lauren, llf6
        1. In conjunction with the Public Service Center
        2. Will be working to organize the details of the event
    C. Food and Clothing Drive Committee - David, db75
    D. Spring Celebration Luncheon - Christina, hw47
        1. In conjunction with the Red Cross
        2. Will need people to help organize, prepare the food, serve the food
        during the Luncheon, clean up, delivering the food, etc.
        3.  We are planning on soliciting non-perishable goods at various dormatories by going door to door.
        4.  The food drive committee is interested in helping out with this project also.
        5.  Sheryl will be asking AOPi sorority to help out with this project.
     E. Short term Project - Christine, cmm34
        1. The coalition was contacted by a man last week who was in danger of
        being evicted from his apartment - he had heard that the coalition
        sometimes financially helped people out in similar situations
        2. Christine and David paid his landlord $300, however learned that this
        money would only keep the man in housing for two more weeks
        3. This group will work with this individual to help arrange a long term
        solution to his housing problems
    F.  Food distribution project:  Christina, hw47, will be presenting our proposal at the Cornell Dining Senior Staff meeting on
    Tuesday, March 6th.
