Cornell Coalition for the Homeless Minutes

I.  Phone-a-thon
    A.  Eric, one of the founding members of the coalition, is now working for the Cornell Fund
    B.  They are having a phone-a-thon this week (3/12, 3/13, 3/14) to call alumni who have donated money to Cornell in the past
    C.  Come and help out, 5:45-9pm, 111 Ives Hall --  FREE PIZZA
II.  Mailings from National Coalition for the Homeless
    A.  We received a sample letter to send to Pres. Bush and/or your local representative
    B.  Copies were passed out in the meeting and one will also be attached and sent out over the list serve
III.  Mental Health Association needs volunteers, e-mail David if interested, db75
    A.  On May 4th they are having a fund rasier to rasie money to benefit the Quality of Life Fund
    B.  There are two shifts
        1.  2-5:30pm to help set up
        2.  5-8pm to help serve
    C.  This may also be something that the Coalition would like to purchase tickets to and attend
IV.  Publicity Drive
    A.  Will begin after spring break
    B.  Will combine with sleepout publicity
V.  After tonights meeting Jesse, jlb76, will be going down to finish painting the Unity House with several Asian American Law Students
VI.  Sleepout
    A.  After Spring Break independent sleepout meetings will begin
    B.  In order to really make the sleepout a uniting activity for coaltion members, focus will be placed on delegating accross the entire group
VII.  Spring Festival Luncheon, email Christina, hw47
    A.  The Luncheon is planned for April 15th
    B.  The week after spring break a group is going to begin collecting canned goods throughout the dorms
    C.  Contact Christina if you could help collected cans, Mon- Thurs. 8-9pm the week after spring break
VIII.  Hygiene Drive
    A.  They went door to door in the class dorms last Friday night and collected 3-4 bags worth of items
    B.  Future possibilities
        1.  Either at Tops Express or Wegman's look into waiting outside the door with a list of desired items and ask people as
        they go in to pick them up
        2.  Baby formula is an especially sought after item
IX.  Ithaca Hunger Banquet, email Lauren, llf6
    A.  Lauren met with Joyce Muchan in the PSC and has contacted the student planning the banquet
    B.  There seem to be possible volunteer opportunities for the coalition as well as a co-sponsorship
X.  Walking Tour of local service providers through Ithaca
    A.  Rose McGrady from the Red Cross is willing to lead a walking tour around Ithaca if we're interested
    B.  Last year she did a similar thing with the Ithaca College group to show them places outside of The Commons where
    homeless people walk
