During the summer of 2010…
Katelyn Smith…
was a camp counselor for Cornell’s Adult University summer program.
Noella Bigirimana…
had a summer internship focusing on preventing mother-to-child-transmission of HIV and infact HIV with ICAP (Columbia University initiative) and Institute of Human Virology (UMSOM) in Rwanda.
Flor Larios…
interned with the Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County
Rye Ri Son…
had an internship at the San Diego County of Public Health in the Health and Human Services Agency where she researched topics ranging from organic food/farming to benefits of breastfeeding.
Emily Devins…
interned at a local chiropractic/physical therapy clinic for the duration of the summer, shadowed a sports physician at Island Fitness in Ithaca, and traveled to Prague, Czech Republic for two weeks.
Kirstyn Powell…
worked at a local summer camp where she was a counselor for 4th through 6th grade children. It was a great opportunity to learn how to interact with this age group, and to observe how they interact with each other. She also worked in Saratoga Hospital Education Department, shadowed a pathologist at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany NY, watched a hysterectomy, and shadowed an ER doctor, nurse, and Pennsylvania.
Kelley Scully…
worked as a receptionist in a doctor’s office.
Elizabeth Hoover…
took summer classes, had a part time retail job, and taught violin lessons.
Kristina Shultz…
took a summer class at Penn State and was involved in community theatre.
Morgan Bookheimer…
worked in an office on campus. She says it wasn’t too exciting but she made some money!
Yoriko Nakamura…
had a clinical internship in Peru through ProWorld and performed HIV/AIDS clinical research with NIH.
Jonathan Kelley…
worked in a neurology laboratory studying Alzheimer’s disease.
Reena Gilani…
took a summer class and tutored in chemistry and discrete mathematics.
Danielle Feng…
went to China for two months.
Katy Reines…
worked as a math and science tutor for kids from 7 to 14-years-old with Peer2Peer Tutors. She also traveled to Italy.
Lorena Montalvo…
took Calculus 1 and 2. She also did research from home.
