Projects

CHI creates opportunities for students to participate in local and international projects to improve human health. The last CHI meeting of the semester, on April 30th, focused on upcoming CHI projects and how to start a project (the following meeting minutes were provided by Sunna Jo).

UPCOMING CHI PROJECTS

Puerto Rico
What: SALUDPROMUJER
Class affiliated with the medical school in Puerto Rico – students take one class on women’s health (clinical/social)

Study:
Possible academic credit granted NEXT summer
Students can also find internship opportunities

When:
June 29 – July 10
Applications due May 15

Cost:
Travel: $300-500
Food, lodging: $600

Ecuador
What: MEDLIFE
Working to improve families’ access to medicine, education and community development

When: Summer 2009 or winter 2010, 1-2 weeks

Goal: Raise money to bring supplies down to Ecuador

Cost:
$650 for 1 week, $950 for 2 weeks
10 students maximum

• CHI has already completed a successful project about HIV awareness and health – you can use the information the team came up with to reproduce the project wherever you’d like
