April 27th, 2008:
The results of the week-long CRC Officer elections are in:
CRC Executive Board for 2008-09
Adam Waszczak |

Hannah Stillings |
Monica Minson |
Carolina Vega |
President |
Vice President |
Treasurer |
Social Chair |
Fundraising Chair |
Ballots and absentee votes were counted on Friday afternoon (Jeremy Slivnick served as witness).
To those who won: congratulations! To those who didn't--and the races were very close, especially for VP--stay active with the club, and try again next year. Everyone will be free to attend and offer input at officer meetings, which take place mostly in the fall and beginning of spring semester.
In other news, CRC members have been dominating in a bunch 5k races lately (unfortunately, most of these don't post times). Today, several competed in the 4th Annual 21 Run (see right), in memory of lacrosse player George Boiardi. Also, Hannah Stillings and Si Ning Li ran a trail 5k in Corning yesterday to benefit the Spencer Crest Naure Center, the 11th Annual John Polo "Nature Revisited" 5k Run. The results aren't online but Hannah was 2nd woman overall. This run was very remarkable for Ning because he biked 30 miles to Horseheads, NY to get a ride with Hannah to the start. He did this less than a week after Boston :o |

April 7th, 2008:
Congratulations to everyone who ran in the Skunk Cabbage races this weekend! We had an extraordinary turnout, and virtually everyone had PRs. See the results here---and let me know if I left you out (the lists were long and I may have missed/forgotten you)! If anyone took pictures, please send them!
Also, every spring at Cornell there are an assortment of 5K races held in the Plantations---almost one (sometimes more!) every weekend. Check the calendar and be on the lookout for emails from the listserv.
March 9th, 2008:
Daylight Savings = 5PM runs! Rejoice! ![]()
The Running Club dinner at the Nines was a huge success--some people almost finished their orders and we even managed to pay with exact change. Look for pictures soon!
January 18th, 2008:
Welcome back everyone! Runs are at 4PM M-F, just like before the break. I've posted some new races on the calendar, including the All-Comers Indoor Meets at Barton, which are pretty fun. Lastly, Fedor is studying abroad for the spring semester, so Adam (adw36@cornell.edu) and James should be addressed with any official business (i.e. t-shirt sales).
Good luck with classes and keep running!
November 2, 2007:
With daylight savings coming to an end this weekend, we are moving the runs up to 4 o'clock everyday so that we can be back before it gets too dark. Hope to see everyone there.
Also if anyone is still interested in a Black Cornell Running Club T-shirt they are still for sale for $10 each. Contact Adam if you want one. (See picture below)
October 21st, 2007:
This past weekend the running club traveled to Philadelphia,
PA to compete in the 1st annual NIRCA East Regionals, hosted by the University of
Pennsylvania at Belmont Plateau. In the women's race, Jessica Masterton led the CRC on a tough
6k course, alongside Hannah Stillings, Lisa Casey, and
Monica Minson.
In the men's race, the club was led by John Grunert, who had a strong showing with a ninth place finish overall. Behind him were Tom Petek, Jeremy Slivnick, Brian Crandall, and Adam Waszczak to round out the top five, which came in sixth overall. Also running with the club were James Daubert, Fedor Dokshin, and Ben Wang (whom we all thank for renting the van and driving us down!).
October 1st, 2007:
Congratulations to everyone who's been racing lately! Last weekend freshmen Peter Melick and Harry Ko dominated at the Upstate XC series @ East Aurora 5k! They represented CRC well, laying down incredible times along with the High Nooners. Running together as the Finger Lakes RC team, they placed second overall. Let's keep our thus-established reputation by attending more races in this series! See the calendar if you're interested.
This past weekend was the Alt Breaks 5k, at which a number of our runners ran well and had a great time. Adding to his local prestige previously established in the Ithaca 10 mile, Chris Mejia placed third overall in quite possibly the fastest field this race has seen in its six years.
Check out the results page for more details, and keep running!
September 16th, 2007:
First of all, I'd like to congratulate all those who ran the Ithaca 5 & 10 this morning. Judging by the results (http://www.leonetiming.com/) it looks like CRC had a great showing. James and Erin both got first in their age divisions in the 5 mile, Chris won his division in the 10 mile, and Mike -- who's actually a varsity runner but ran with the club this past summer -- won the overall title in the 10 mile in a stellar 56:03. Also running well were Roger Strang, Adam Waszczak, and Joey Talbert in the 10 mile and Jeremy Slivnick, Monica, and Amanda Jenkins in the 5 mile. My apologies if I missed anyone.
Another great performance by CRC was out on Appel Fields, where CRC fielded a team for a frisbee tournament. James, Jessica, David, Laura, Andrew, Blake and I took the first two games by a combined score of 10-3, but fell short in the semi-final against a very good team. Good playing guys.
Finally, just to remind everyone, people have been coming later and later everyday, please make sure to be at the meeting spot by 5pm, so that we can definitely leave by 5:05, it's not fair to those who need to be places to have to wait for late runners.
September 4th, 2007:
Thanks everyone for attending the runs, especially those who are new to the club! It's great to have enough people to split into groups based on pace and distance. But groups only form if there are enough people in attendance --- so if you like the groups you've been running with, keep coming!
In my opinion, the most important thing about running is not how fast you run, but how consistently you run. Speed (and more importantly, endurance) comes with practice! So be sure to get out at least 3 times a week (most people do more), even if it's not always with the club. No one runs 'in their spare time' --- you have to make time for it, just as you do officially for classes and (presumably) for studying.

Just in time for the fall fashion season are the new 2007 CRC tees! Get one for the *spectacular* price of $10, and help support the club in the process! Talk to a club officer or email Adam for details.
This website is still under construction; we've got a ways to go so bear with us in the meantime. An events calendar, gallery of mapped runs, new photography and a members info submission form are all in the works.
July 8th, 2007:
The summer runs are in full swing, and have been extremely well-attended. Thanks for coming everyone!
The start of the fall semester is going to be busy for the CRC; we anticipate drastically increasing our numbers -- especially through Clubfest and a featured section on the Class of 2011 page.
Also coming soon: NEW t-shirts with the NEW logo (see top navigation bar). Preorders will be taken soon -- in the meantime, feel free to buy the '06 shirts (below) while they last.
Did I mention we have a new faculty advisor? Welcome Professor Veit Elser of the Physics Department!
