Cornell University Cricket Club
The Cornell Cricket Club was formed in the Summer of 1999 to promote
the popularity of Cricket at Cornell. Cricket at Cornell has always
been a popular activity. But it was only in the Summer of 1999 that a
few students decided to take cricket at Cornell to another level by
officially registering the Cornell Cricket Club with the University
Student Activities Department.
The Cornell Cricket Club is for anybody who is interested in
cricket, whether you are a seasoned player or a beginner. We encourage everybody
to join and enjoy the wonderful sport of cricket. Cornell Cricket Club organizes
cricketing events throughout the year. When the weather is good during the
academic year, we often play softball cricket in the Engineering or Arts
Quad. Otherwise, we play indoors in the field house. In the summer, we play
leather ball cricket. Practice is often held at Ramin Room and home matches
are played at Community Commons Ground and Schoellkopf Field.
The main venue for matches at cornell is the Schoellkopf Field (right) The pitch (astro turf) is a batting paradise. Directions to this ground can be printed out by the visiting teams from here. During the summer, home matches are held on the weekends from 12pm to 6pm and away matches at various universities including Syracuse, SUNY Albany, Columbia, Temple, Haverford College, as well as Rochester, Lansdale, British Officers' and Sodus Cricket Clubs.
