Minutes from 2/13/2006
3.6.2006

Today, we had an informal meeting where everyone can bring in materials to share with the group. The following list captures what happened at the meeting, but is definitely not a complete list!

- We had a consecutive streak of one new person at each meeting!

- Seth suggested that his group can provide the people resources for our group's ideas (related to philanthropy, etc.)

Highlights for 3/6/2006: a streak, StudentSpeak, "Mentally Disabled Offender: a talk"

- We the upcoming StudentSpeak event in April. Amanda and Josephine are looking for potential speakers. To "recruit" speakers, we will e-mail the listserv. In our new StudentSpeak event in April, we seek to balance the panel with a mix of people who favor "medical remediation" of disability and those who do not favor such un-natural interventions.

- At the middle of the meeting, everyone introduced themselves with their name, relationship to CUDA, major, and one weird aspect of him/hserlf (as Ahmed suggested).

- Sharon announced the confirmation of the following speaking event: Hal Smith will be giving a talk titled "Mentally Disabled Offenders: Myths and Misconceptions" on March 16 from 5:00-6:30 pm in Kauffman Auditorium, Goldwin Smith Hall.

- Next week, we will have a more formal meeting with a definitive topic.
