About CUSLAR

The Committee on U.S.-Latin American Relations (CUSLAR) is a network of volunteers promoting awareness of the culture and politics of Latin American nations and their relationships with the United States. We support a coordinator and an office in Anabel Taylor Hall at Cornell University, as a project of the Center for Religion, Ethics, and Social Policy (CRESP).

We bring speakers to upstate New York to share their experiences in research and action. Through our staff and volunteers, we also organize a Latin American film series, a quarterly magazine, and outreach to public schools. CUSLAR is a resource center for researchers, volunteers, and others who travel between the U.S. and Latin America. Our library has over 1,500 books and dozens of periodicals and videos on or from Latin America, as well as extensive files on international volunteer opportunities and language schools.

CUSLAR is the oldest continuously operating Latin American solidarity organization in North America. In 2005, we celebrated our fortieth anniversary. To see whom we have hosted in the past and whom we will host in the future, visit our Events Calendar. We also offer conversational Spanish classes designed for people who seek to build language skills for work and travel.
