ECaFT Member Profiles

President
Brian Manzi
Chemical Engineering, 2012
As president of the Engineering Career Fair Team I am very ambitious about the future of this organization.  I am one of the founding members who brought this organization to the level it is now having hosted two extremely successful career fairs.  Additionally, I believe our contributions to the engineering community as well outside of the career fair will be vast and great starting with our new addition, the engineering grant. During my time with ECaFT I have gained much experience and would be pleased to answer any questions.

Vice President
Vardahn Chaudhry
Environmental Engineering, 2013
Over the past several years, I have focused my studies on sustainability in the context of climate change, renewable energy systems, and the built environment because the many practical, economic, and policy issues surrounding the field intrigue me. As a Co-Chair of Logistics on ECaFT, I worked closely with the rest of the team, our advisors, and several other members of the Cornell community to organize and run the Engineering & Technical Career Fair. The experience of event-planning and trouble-shooting has been invaluable, and will surely stay with me throughout my future professional pursuits. My time outside of ECaFT is mostly devoted to both working to create a new testbed for sustainable building design as part of the Cornell University Sustainable Design Project Team and serving as a Business Consultant for Global Youth Concept, a NGO that aims to improve the lives of youths in Pampanga, Philippines.

I joined the publicity and marketing division of ECaFT in my sophomore year, and this is my second year as chair. My department works to generate awareness of ECaFT as well as events that ECaFT organizes through online media and posters placed around campus. Our biggest achievement each year is the two 26-foot long banners we place on the Duffield catwalk advertising the Spring Engineering and Technical Career Fair. This banner is always well designed and is the largest student-created poster Cornell prints each year. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, playing video games, and working on a 5.5 gallon coral reef aquarium in my room.

Advisory Board
R. M. Malinka Walaliyadde
Materials Science & Engineering, 2012
I played a central role in redefining the purpose of our organization and coming up with a new team structure after the predecessor to ECaFT dissolved under graduating leadership in my freshman year. As the Corporate chair last year, I discarded procedures that had caused the previous organization to fail and led the new team to create and execute completely new protocols. Our efforts allowed us to host our most successful career fair ever last year. This year, as president, I have greatly expanded the scope of the fair and increased registration by almost 50%. Furthermore I have led the team in organizing its first large-scale event outside the career fair.  I am also keenly interested in molecular biology and am the technical lead for a genetic engineering project team at Cornell.
