Golden Key Board Member Positions

2006-2007

PRESIDENT

  • Oversee all chapter activities
  • Coordinate efforts among all officers, faculty advisor, and headquarters
  • Plan and prepare agendas for board meetings and general body meetings
  • Organize, plan and lead to ensure perpetuation and overall success of chapter
  • Ensure that the chapter fulfills all chapter standards

VICE PRESIDENT OF ACTIVITIES

  • Network and partner with other student organizations with programs and activities
  • Oversee, plan and coordinate all chapter activities (both social and service), such as a Blood Drive (one of the most important and mandatory service events), pizza socials in college town, nursing home trips, food and clothes drives, ice skating events, movie nights, etc.
  • Plan and coordinate at least two service projects per semester
  • Coordinate both service activities and on-going programs with the service chair

VICE PRESIDENT OF SERVICE

  • Work with VP of Activities to network and partner with other student organizations with programs and activities
  • Plan and coordinate at least two service projects per semester and ongoing service activities (eg: tutoring program)
  • Coordinate service committee and call committee meetings as necessary

VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNICATION

  • Compose and send email updates to the current members and potential members
  • Correspond with our honorary members
  • Quickly respond to any questions that members or potential members may have
  • Help plan and organize the Golden Key events with the rest of the board members

VICE PRESIDENT OF HONORARY MEMBER AND ALUMNI RELATIONS

  • Create and maintain an alumni network, whereby current students can contact alumni, learn about their experiences, ask them questions, and seek their guidance
  • Plan social events to foster interaction between active and honorary members
  • Reach out to honorary members and alumni on a frequent basis to thank them for their commitment to our society, to inform them about upcoming events and to discuss the best uses of their time in association with Golden Key

TREASURER

  • Manage all financial transactions of the chapter with guidance of the chapter advisor
  • Receive and distribute chapter funds
  • Work with president and advisor to prepare an accurate budget for the chapter within one month of the new member induction ceremony
  • Balance the chapter account and report to the chapter, the advisor and the regional director at least once a month
  • Submit to international headquarters, by June 1, a financial summary of the past year’s income and expenditures

ACADEMIC RECOGNITION CHAIR

  • Organize the annual induction ceremony in November
  • Keep close documentation and records for future years
  • Coordinate other ceremonies involving academic recognition (e.g. honor cord ceremony)
  • Given the seasonal nature of the induction ceremony, it is desirable during off-times for the academic recognition director to aid the rest of the officers as needed

LIAISON TO HEADQUARTERS

  • Obtain all correspondence and minutes from the VP of Communications and Secretary
  • Save and document any evidence of chapter activities, including, posters, newspaper clippings, flyers, etc.
  • Take pictures to include in the Chapter Yearbook
  • Follow guidelines sent by international headquarters to prepare the Chapter Yearbook
  • Submit the annual Chapter Yearbook to international headquarters

SECRETARY

  • Record and prepare minutes after each meeting
  • Help VP of Communications prepare any documents as needed
  • Reserve rooms or other venues for meetings and chapter activities
  • Keep track of all the members' points
  • Assist chapter historian in keeping all records of meetings, events, activities and compiling a yearbook (which consists of all activities of Cornell Chapter) to submit to Headquarters every June by June 1

WEBMASTER

  • Update web page design and information (currently created using a mix of HTML and PHP)
  • The content of page includes current announcements (including job postings and scholarship information) and events, pictures of past GK events, membership benefits, a list of honorary members, related links, and contact information
  • Possible room for improvement: site for golden key members to submit their ideas/comments
