PALS Fair
(posted 4/15/08)

Where: Lansing High School
When: Sunday, April 27, 2008
Time: 11:30AM - 2PM (Shift 1) OR 2 - 4:30PM (Shift 2)
Description: PALS is an organization that is currently run by one of our Honorary Members, Cindy van Es. PALS (Partnership between African and Lansing Schools) is hoping to raise about $6,500 for a water tank system for Mbaka Oromo Primary School in western Kenya. Right now, there is one water spigot that brings water from a nearby stream. It doesn't work during the dry months, so for most of the year, there's no fresh water to drink during the day. The water tank system collects rain water run-off from the roofs of classrooms and stores it in a sealed tank, where they can use it when needed. It would be a huge improvement in the quality of life for the kids and teachers! Both Honorary and Undergraduate members are invited to attend. The event will be a large Carnival with games for kids as well as a barbecue. Golden Key will be running its own table during the event.
We are looking for 15 people to work either Shift 1 and/or Shift 2. If you are interested, please e-mail Brett Goldstein (BG83) by Sunday (4/20) with your full name and mobile telephone number. Also include whether you will be able to drive to the event.
You will receive TWO POINTS per hour for attending this service event!
Drivers will receive an additional ONE POINT!
GK Cornell/Syracuse Chapter Lunch
(posted 4/15/08)

This weekend on Sunday, April 20, 2008 around 1PM, the Syracuse Chapter of Golden Key has offered us the chance to enjoy a day in the park and participate in their Transition Lunch. This would be an excellent opportunity for our Chapter to begin collaborating with Syracuse. According to Google Maps, the Drive is about 1 hour and 25 minutes. Due to the distance, anyone willing to make the trip will be reimbursed for gas up to $30 and will be awarded an extra POINT for offering to drive! In addition, you will earn TWO POINTS per hour (the same as a service event) for attending.

If you are interested, please email Alex Turok (AMT63) by Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 10PM. We need to let the President of the Syracuse Chapter know how many people will be attending. When you email Alex, please include your full name, mobile telephone number and let him know if you have a car.
