Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical housing organization
dedicated to elimating sub-standard housing worldwide and making
it possible for low-income families to live in simple, decent
homes.
Millard Fuller and his wife, Linda, founded Habitat for Humanity
International in 1976. The organization now consists of over 2,100
affiliates worldwide, representing 92 countries and all
50 states. Habitat has officially constructed over 200,000 homes
and housed over 1 million people by building and rehabilitating
simple, decent homes with the help of volunteer labor, monetary,
and in-kind donations. Habitat homes are sold to partner families
at no profit and financed via affordable, no-interest loans. The
homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are cycled back into Habitat.

Cornell Habitat is a student-led, student-run organization that
prides itself on accomplishing the four functions of a Habitat
campus chapter: To build, fundraise, educate, and advocate. Each
and every weekend we are building and rehabilitating houses in
partnership with local Habitat affiliates and homeowners. We host
a variety of events in order to educate the Cornell community
about affordable housing issues and the work of Habitat for Humanity,
and we also advocate the need for change to the current situation
of sub-standard housing in Ithaca and beyond. Lastly, many fundraisers
takes place throughout the year in order to help us support the
work of Habitat.
