about our campus organization while also constructing their own
gingerbread house.
October:
Shack
Attack
"Buy a Brick, Build a House"
Students walking through Ho Plaza donate money (to buy a "brick")
to help us turn our shack into a home, brick by brick.
$ 1.00 = one brick
$ 2.00 = two bricks
$ 5.00 or more = two bricks & a free t-shirt!
Students are free to decorate the brick any way they choose!
November:
Murder
Mystery Dinner
It is a night of delectable dining, mingling and of course, murderous revenge. Tickets cost $12 at the door. This money is used to raise funds for Habitat homes in our area and around the world as the guests try to figure out whodunit!
December:
Alternative Gift Giving Fair
Don't know what to give Mom & Dad for the holidays? Why not
donate to Habitat in their name? They will get a hand-crafted
greeting card and cinnamon ornament to hang.
January:
Global Village Trip
Our first trip out of the country to Habitat site is scheduled
for January 2007 to Guatemala.
To find out more, contact our Global Village
Chair.
March:
Spring Break Trips
During Spring Break, we send typically 4 or 5 groups of about 13 students
to Habitat Affiliates in other states. Each site is different;
volunteers may be renovating old houses or building new ones.
In any case, students are helping families in need, and students
who go on one trip usually come back to go on more. Not only is
this a great opportunity to meet new people, but volunteers come
back with a great sense of accomplishment.
This Spring, we are going to Cleveland, OH, Lexington, KY, Huntington, WV, Raleigh, NC. To find out more and sign up for a trip, contact our Spring Break
Chair.
April:
Truss
Days
For three days, we bring our workshop to Ho Plaza and have students
passing by pick up a hammer to help us build trusses. The trusses
are each sponsored by a local business. Each day is filled with
public speakers, music, t-shirts, and flying nails.
To find out more, contact our Truss Day Chair.
May:
Dodgeball
Our annual tournament consists of 36 teams with 10 people on
each team. Teams are eliminated in a round robin style guarenteeing
each player at least 15 games. Every participant also receives
a free t-shirt, which you can find students wearing on campus
from years past.
To find out more, contact our Dodgeball Chair.
