Cornell Hawai'i Club

About Us

Attention!

Congratulations to our Cornell c/o 2009 graduates! Good luck in all of your future endeavors.

Cornell is a long way from Hawai'i, and for many new students, coming out to the East Coast can be a difficult transition. From those constant "do you surf?" questions to a lack of real rice in the dining halls, from the cold winters to the confused look on people's faces when you say you're all pau, the life of a local kid at Cornell is always interesting. One goal of the Cornell University Hawai'i Club is to make it a little easier. In the summer, before returning to college, current students meet incoming freshmen at a reception, just so we can get to know each other. Once we're all up in Ithaca, there's another get-together for everyone to meet and get reaquainted. Right around when the winter clothing lines are starting to come out, we take a mini-road trip up to a nearby shopping center to shop for winter clothes. And throughout the year, everyone is happy to be there for support.

Of course, the Hawai'i club is not just for Hawai'i kids. It's also for anyone who is Hawaiian at heart, or just interested in finding out what paradise is really like. Anyone interested in the club is welcome to attend any of our meetings or gatherings or even join the club. This year, we are looking forward to participating in more events in which we have the opportunity to share the Hawaiian culture. And of course, there is our annual lu'au, which is usually held near the end of the school year in early May. The lu'au includes hula performances (by Hawai'i club members!), traditional Hawaiian food, and more. Cornell students as well as members of the Ithaca community are all invited to attend and experience Hawaiian culture.
