- Dance Debut-
When? Friday 16th,, 8-10 p.m. Where? Statler Auditorium. How much? Free. Who's in charge? Qais Sultan.
The importance of dance as a medium of expressing the uniqueness of cultures will be celebrated on Friday April 16th at 8pm in the Statler Auditorium. Many groups will be participating in the Dance Debut -- a free show that has been very well-attended in the past years. The partipating groups include: Sitara, Prolific Soul, Nitsots!, Hui Hawaii O Na Cornell, Cornell Malaysian Association, VenCornell, Hellenic Culture Club, The Swing Kids & many more.
- Food Tasting - When? Tuesday 20th,, 6-8 p.m. Where? Biotech G-10. How much? Five Dollars ($5). Who's in charge? Andre Do Valle.
Every year several international organizations on the Cornell campus come together to offer a taste of their countries. This event has a become a campus tradition not only for its great food, but for its culturally diverse atmosphere.
- Film Festival - When? April 7th, 21st, 22nd, 28th, 30th. Where? Cornell Cinema. How much? Three Dollars ($3). Who's in charge? Antoine Asseraf.
The first ever International Film Festival will bring movies from Italy, Turkey, Tunisia, Russia and Iran at lower price ($3), as well as feature several East-Asian films. For exact schedules, check-out the Cornell Cinema site.
- Exhibition -
When? Friday 9th,, 11 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Where? Willard Straight Hall, Memorial Room. How much? Free. Who's in charge? Yoyo Pitisant. The many International groups on campus will converge on the Memorial Room to showcase the unique aspects of their countries cultural heritage. Los Mensajeros de la Patria, a Venezuelan Folk band will be performing and samples of food from different parts of the globe will be served throughout the event.
- Soccer Tournament -
When? Sunday 25th,, 12 p.m (noon). Where? Ramin Multi-Purpose Room, Athletic Field. How much? Free. Who's in charge? Thura Soe-Thwe. In the spirit of the world's greatest sporting spectacle and celebration of national identity, ISPB presents an indoor five-a-side co-ed soccer tournament. Participants are encouraged to represent their home countries so that the ramin multi-purpose room comes alive with soccer patriotism.
- Flag Painting -
When? Thursday 8th,, 3-5:30 p.m. Where? Big Red Barn. How much? Free. Who's in charge? Alex Fajkowski. Kick off International Festival '99: Beyond Borders with Flag Painting! Come socialize with the rest of the international community and paint your country's flag on our banner which will be displayed at every event during this year's International Festival.
- Global Spot-
When? Friday April 30th/Saturday May 1st, 10 p.m.-3:00 a.m. Where? Club Semesters. How much? Who's in charge? Sundari Narayan Swami. Last but not least: a chance to party to the world's grooviest tunes all night long. Co-sponsored by the Society for India.
