International Students Programming Board: Information About
the International Students Programming Board
|
Mission
Statement
The International Students Programming Board (ISPB) is an organisation
of students from a diverse background committed to promoting dialogue and
awareness about world events, cultures, and issues. We fulfil
this goal through the ISPB's original events and the
funding of student organisations, as well as
assisting in the planning and execution of their events. The ISPB believes that
the university environment offers a unique opportunity for the interaction of
ideas and opinions. The prestige and resources of Cornell University allow us
to plan major events and to hear from influential speakers, and we are
committed to fulfilling this potential. Further, the ISPB encourages all
student groups to approach the Board with ideas and suggestions concerning
events or speakers they would like to see on Campus. The ISPB does not take any
political stance on issues. We defend and support the rights of student organisations, including the ISPB, to present these issues
to the Cornell Community.

Functions
of the ISPB
The ISPB has served as an umbrella group for international and ethnic
associations at Cornell University for over twenty years. In addition to
assisting groups with funding for their own specific events, we advise them
with planning and execution of those events, as well as with general questions
they may have, or assistance they may need (e-mail the President Kin). The ISPB additionally hosts its own
events, highlighted each year with the International Festival, occurring in the
late Spring. The Festival annually includes such favourites as International Food Tasting, Flag Painting,
and a Mini-World Cup, among others. Other events organised
by the ISPB throughout the year include movie screenings, a Dance Workshop, and
round-table discussions and lectures.
Make-up
of the ISPB and the Election Process
The ISPB is made up of culturally-diverse students,
elected to the Board at the beginning of each year. Information about applying
for the Board can be obtained by emailing ISPB or by emailing the Vice-President Joseph.
Friends
of the ISPB
For those who would like to volunteer periodically,
there exists the Friends of the ISPB, an informal network of supporters who aid
with publicity, organisation, and other needs. Since
the Board's make-up does not exceed eighteen, more hands are always desired,
especially during the busy International Festival season. To subscribe to the
Friends of the ISPB, email the Vice-President Joseph..
