Chapter Philanthropy: Equality
The broadness of the term equality is a contested concept that encompasses various realms of society and politics. It is a term that indicates correlation between a group of different objects, persons, courses of action or circumstances that have the same characteristics in at least one aspect, but not all. In our community, and bearing in mind the international state of affairs, the theories of and the way we value equality and “justice” have diminished. At times we might find ourselves taking for granted our basic freedoms, education, and the essential human necessities that allow us not only comfort but survival. The Lovely Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated Gamma Phi Chapter are coming of age in a world that, although modernized, still suffers from hunger, environmental dangers, war, and inhumane acts that violate the right to live of men, women and children. Hence, we would like to make it a goal that in everything we do for ourselves and others, we keep in mind these struggles that many have to undergo daily to fight for even the slightest taste of equality, and help in the fight for a better tomorrow. We fight for economic equality. We fight for gender equality. We fight for the right to marry whom you love. We fight for the right to worship and choose the best path for you. We fight for the right to freely walk the streets without fears of racist or discriminatory attacks. As women of distinct multi-ethnic backgrounds, we fight for the right to be!
