The Nutrition Graduate Student Organization (NGSO) is a graduate student organization at Cornell University established to promote interaction among graduate students in the Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) and to facilitate communication and interaction between the graduate students and the DNS faculty and administration.

The primary purpose of the NGSO is to foster a sense of camaraderie among the diverse graduate student body in the Division of Nutritional Sciences. Although we share a common interest in nutrition, graduate students within the Division are focused on very different areas, including community nutrition, international nutrition, nutritional biochemistry and human nutrition. Moreover, the physical segregation of the Division in two different buildings (Savage and MVR) diminishes its sense of unity. The NGSO sponsors several events throughout the year such as the annual NGSO Dessert Party to welcome new students, Fall outings to orchards and vineyards, the popular International Cooking Demonstration, an NGSO sponsored speaker, a Spring poster session to share information and prepare for conferences and an end-of-the-year BBQ. These events and more provide opportunities for the graduate students, undergraduate students, faculty and staff from its diverse areas to interact.

A second purpose of the NGSO is to act as a liaison to facilitate communication between graduate students and the DNS faculty and administration. Toward this goal, various faculty committees such as the curriculum committee and academic affairs committee include student representatives of the NGSO. Additionally, the NGSO organizes meetings between the graduate students and faculty members to address specific timely issues.
