Cornell Agroecology Curriculum Project
The 2005-2006 school year one of the main projects on which we have chosen to focus involves development of a working group on interdisciplinary sustainable agriculture education. We have three main goals:
- Facilitate on-going discussion of inter-disciplinary and integrated agricultural curriculum options in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences to enhance student educational experience and perspective
- Increase utilization of Dilmun Hill Student Organic Farm for classes taught at Cornell
- Link these actions to broader goals of sustainability at Cornell
Activities include a public discussion held in October 2005 to update the Cornell University community on recent developments in sustainable agriculture education on campus, assess needs, and brainstorm new ideas. In Spring 2006, we are bringing experts in the field of sustainable agricultural education to Cornell from institutions with expertise in this area. Seminars will be followed by critical discussion of ideas presented and how they might enhance our agricultural science curriculum. A schedule will be available soon on this site. Members of NWAEG will travel to California in January 2006 to participate in a national conference on Sustainable Agriculture Education.
