About PATCH
The Preprofessional Association Toward Careers in Health (PATCH) provides support, advising, and up-to-date information to students pursuing careers in health care. Programs include academic advising, guest speakers on allopathic and alternative medicine, career options, information on medical school admissions, MCAT preparation, research and internship opportunities, and a visit to a local medical school. This student-run organization is sponsored by Human Ecology and is open to the Cornell community.
Our Mission
To provide Cornell undergraduates with the resources they need to make informed decisions about future careers in health. We expose our members to different opportunities available in the health field, while giving them strategies to help them work towards their goal of a health-related career. Finally, PATCH brings together pre-med and pre-health students in a supportive, social atmosphere so that they may learn from and help each other.
PATCH Committees
- Research Opportunites: PATCH can help you get involved with professors in Human Ecology or your individual college in the area of your interest.
- Community Service Program: Every semester, PATCH co-hosts a blood drive with the American Red Cross. We also participate in community events such as Ithaca Breast Care Alliance Walk-a-Thons and Relay for Life. You can volunteer of participate in these community service events as a part of the PATCH team!
- Weekly Service Program: PATCH can help set up volunteer
opportunities with our ongoing program. This year's
program will be announced at our General Body
meetings, and you can sign up at the meetings or
contact Lily lfs43@cornell.edu or Chloe cam377@cornell.edu.
- Mentorship Program: This is a program that matches pre-health upperclassmen with freshman PATCH members to ease the transition into Cornell. There will be various mentoring events and activities.
- Transfer Program: This is a new program that integrates Transfer students into the pre-health atmosphere and resources available at Cornell.
