Carrie Barton
2004: EHT Traceries Inc. in Washington,
D.C. I conducted reconnaissance-level historic resource surveys for
the City of Fairfax and Arlington County, Virginia. I also helped
prepare a National Historic Register nomination for a Nike missle
site in Long Island.
2005: reSTORE DC in Washington, D.C. I interned with the Deputy Mayor
for Planning and Economic Development, developing commercial revitalization
strategies and providing technical assistance for DC Main Street
groups. I also put together a publication outlining a proposed facade
improvement program for the Adams Morgan neighborhood in DC.

Maine Preservation in Portland, ME, and
Restoration Resources in Alna, ME -A dual summer internship where
I spent the month of June working as an historic preservation intern
at Maine Preservation, the statewide non-profit organization, and
the month of July as a building conservation intern at Restoration
Resources, a private restoration company in mid-coast Maine. At Maine
Preservation I organized the 9th annual Maine’s Most Endangered Historic
Properties Program and at Restoration Resources I assisted the carpentry
crew in the preservation, rehabilitation, restoration and renovation
of historic residential buildings through carpentry work and building
condition assessments.
Jessica Evans
Internship summer '04 - I had a Cornell
Urban Scholars Fellowship, and partnered with City College Architectural
Center in NYC. I did research on cultural sustainability and under-appreciated
heritage sites around Washington Heights (Northern Manhattan), as
methods of economic development. The product of my research was a
proposal and presentation to an Economic development/Community Board
steering committee about possible opportunities to promote the historic,
architectural and cultural assets of Washington Heights for a future
Business Improvement District.
Ed FitzGerald
Summer 2007: US/ICOMOS International
Internship Program. Worked for the Scottish Stone Liaison Group,
Charlestown, Scotland researching buildings built using Scottish stone
and stone masons that were exported/emigrated to North America. Also
participated in an exciting project to revitalize Glasgow's
stone-built heritage, threatened by poor construction,
neglected/improper repairs, and a shortage of suitable stone and
skilled stone masons.
Maya Haptas
Summer 2007: I worked for the San Francisco City Planning Department
Historic Resources Survey Team. My project was to undertake survey
work in the Inner Mission North District of 1906 earthquake and fire
survivor properties that sit on the 1906 Fire Line. The outcome was
two locally eligible historic districts and one California Register
eligible historic district after surveying over 135 properties.
Nicholas Hayward
I had an internship with Landmarks Preservation
Council of Illinois (LPCI) during the summer of 2005. I researched
rural preservation activities, specifically activities that pertain
to barns. My product was a survey of rural preservation activity
in Illinois counties and recommendations for LPCI and Illinois Barn
Alliance to further stimulate barn preservation in Illinois.

Summer 2007: Conservation Intern with Abha Narain Lambah
Associates in Mumbai, India. I got to work on various parts of projects involving the World Heritage Sites of Khajuraho and Hampi in India, as
well as locally listed though equally important sites in Sikar, Rajasthan and within Mumbai itself.

Summer 2005- Cornell Cooperative Summer Internship co-sponsored
by the New Jersey Institute of Technology: As an intern based at
the Rochester Regional Community Design Center, I functioned as Consultant
for the development of the summer internship component (preservation
arts internship) for a future Vocational Technical High School for
the Restoration Arts in Rochester, modeled after the Brooklyn High
School of the Arts Preservation Arts curriculum.

Kristen Olson & Sara Johnson
Summer 2007: Interned at Historic Ithaca under the
leadership of Preservation Director Jessica Evans (alumna ‘05.)
Historic Ithaca acts to preserve and sustain the legacy of the built
environment in Tompkins County and the Finger Lakes Region. Kristen and
Sara focused their work on the Ithaca City Cemetery, gathering
information on history and current conditions, organizing a cemetery
work-day for Cornell CRP and Landscape Architecture students, and
starting a “Friends of the Ithaca City Cemetery” group. Their other
projects included research on two historic homes and a former coal
yard office as well as the preparation of case studies for
presentation to the Village of Montour Falls in Schuyler County, New
York.

with reviewing and assisting applicant's certificates of
appropriateness, helped with the Ithaca Landmarks Preservation
