Registry of Small Ensembles

Ensembles: New

Quick Intro

Ensembles may include concert band or orchestral instrumentation, and if you like you can participate in multiple ensembles. This is not a class, so there are no course prerequisites for joining. You can join CU ROSE either as a complete ensemble, a partial ensemble, or an individual looking to find/recruit/join a group.

Finding/Recruiting/Joining Ensembles

There are a variety of ways to recruit or join an ensemble, including:

  1. Come to a ROSE Meeting
General meetings occur at least once a month during the regular academic year, and we'll provide time there for musicians to organize. (See our schedule page or contact an officer for details.)

  2. Advertise on our Mailing List, CUROSE-L@cornell.edu
You can join by sending an email to the list owner.

  3. Those wanting to recruit can also look for musicians through the large ensembles on campus. For help with that, you can either contact us or contact the groups directly.

Next Step: How to Become an "Active Ensemble"

Once you've got a full crew, your ensemble can become an "Active Ensemble" by requesting Board approval. To do this, contact our president with a list of your members and their instruments.

Each Active Ensemble is largely independent and responsible for its own rehearsals, allowing each group the flexibility of scheduling to meet its members needs. CU ROSE facilitates this by aiding ensembles with their music and rehearsal options. CU ROSE also organizes concerts for its Active Ensembles.

If your group has already gotten this far, check out the page for current ensembles.
