Welcome, and thank you for your interest in the Seven Spirits Kung Fu School!  On behalf of the members of the School, I would like to extend our warmest greetings!

The Seven Spirits Kung Fu School is an organization at Cornell University that promotes Vietnamese martial arts, culture, and moral philosophy.  The School focuses on the martial art called Thất Sơn Thần Quyền (Seven Mountain Spirits Martial Arts) to shape you mentally and spiritually.  Students will learn the five moral principles that are the transcendental core of the school.  They are trust, reverence, respect, humility, and forbearance.  Because very few practice this form of martial art, the School is passionately dedicated to preserving it and sharing Vietnamese martial arts and philosophy with you!

The Seven Spirits Kung Fu School has two key goals.   The first is to accentuate the distinctive character and abilities of our students through vigorous physical training and an active community.  Every day, instructors and members learn from each other, molding a community centered on the five moral principles.  Let’s not forget the second goal of the School: to create a friendly, comfortable, learning environment so that you can enjoy yourself!

Why become a member?  The answers are simple.  First, you will learn Thất Sơn Thần Quyền, a martial arts that incorporates soft, calm, hard, and explosive movements.  The style of Thất Sơn Thần Quyền is characterized by the movements of seven primary animals:  the tiger, crane, snake, hawk, phoenix, and dragon.  These graceful and powerful techniques are breath-taking!  Because the mastery of these forms involves great mental and physical concentration, you will become more aware and in control of your mind and body.  Second, not only will you learn about Vietnamese culture, you will also meet students with a thousand different talents, incredible backgrounds, and widely varied skills.  The physical mastery of the techniques is only one aspect of the training, incomplete without the ability to understand, learn from, and teach one another.  I guarantee that the Seven Spirits School will give you a new perspective about people and the world.  I can only say that it will be an incredible experience that you will forever treasure.

With this in mind, I invite all you spirited, motivated people to Seven Spirits Martial Arts!  Each member that joins the School adds individual character and attitude to its dynamic tapestry.  So, come and grow with us!  I guarantee that you will shine in our school’s constellation.
