What's new with SSK? A
big welcome to all our new members--we're glad to have you. This
semester there are quite a few more people at the club. Thank you
all. We've also received some funding for equipment. More
updates on that to come. |

Much is new. We are
acquiring new members, pursuing an aggressive second semester advertising
campaign, looking for stable rooms, an SSK banner to wave, and funding. The webpage has undergone drastic changes:
- Modified Header / Footer graphics for
easier navigation
- Now totally php
- Added a history
document to the index/about page.
- Moved this news page father from the
main page
- Added several links
- Updated the
officers' page
- Updated the
forms page

After a tiring, but good
session in Barton today, I've redesigned the web site. We're now
using SSI (Server Side Includes) on the website to specify standard
headers and footers for each page. To let the
Apache web server
know that we need it to parse the SSIs, most of the names for this website
will end with ".shtml" now. So, don't let that freak you out;
they're just .htm[l] files with an s in front. And what they let us
do is change ALL the headers / footers by simply editing that one page; so
the site is easier to maintain. We've
also improved the layout and "image" of the site. Note the
optimized, centered layout and cleaner navigation. Special thanks to
Maria Nguyen for helping with some of the layout and design. The
pages have also been targeted for the "kung fu" keyword. Some of
them were missing meta-information that would allow search engines to find
us. Many also never really used the words "kung fu" anywhere in the
page.
