Shotokan Karate Club at Cornell University –
ISKF Training Camps
The ISKF has a long-standing
tradition (exactly 40 years) of holding training camps with excellent
instructors from the Japan Karate Association (JKA). These camps are held in
various locations in the US.
Members of the East Coast Shotokan Karate Associations are very fortunate to
have two outstanding training camps held in our region.
The location for both camps is Green Lane, PA (about a 4-hour car-ride from
Ithaca, NY).
The most important and the most
famous is the week-long Master Camp which is held in the first half of June.
The roster of instructors is truly impressive during Master Camp: in addition
to the regional ISKF-instructors, there are always guest instructors from the
JKA in Tokyo, Japan.
The participants are not just from the US, but come from all corners of
the world. The ISKF International Goodwill Tournament is held at the end of
Master Camp.
The other training camp in Green
Lane, PA happens in the fall. This
one is shorter, only a week-end (Friday to Sunday) of intense practice. The
last day of Fall Camp is reserved for goodwill tournament, which is a good
opportunity to practice competing for the upcoming tournaments in the fall
(ISKF Canada Nationals and ISKF US Nationals).
In Addition to Master Camp, every
ISKF region has its own training camp.
