Start in front stance gedan barai – not in fighting stance.
Sanbon zuki - one count, step forward face level punch, reverse punch to stomach in place, stomach level punch in place.
Stepping back rising block, back fist with blocking arm followed by reverse punch.
Stepping forward outside to inside block (soto uke), jab with same hand and reverse punch (gyaku zuki).
Stepping back sword hand block (shuto uke), front leg front snap kick, reverse punch. (Or spear hand strike, I cannot recall)
Stepping forward front snap kick (ren geri) - one count: Stepping forward front snap kick middle level, followed immediately by stepping forward front snap kick to high level. Turn after three counts and stepping forward two kicks, first to jodan and second to chudan. Keep both of your arms to the side (like double gedan barai).
Side snap kick (yoko geri keage) stepping in kiba dachi, turn and coming back kicking with the other side.
Side thrust kick (yoko geri kekomi) stepping in kiba dachi, turn and coming back kicking with the other side.
Roundhouse kick (mawashi geri) - one count: roundhouse kick (chudan), followed immediately by uraken jodan (backfist to face) and reverse punch to chudan. Make sure that you start the uraken from the opposite hip, not from your shoulder.
In front stance gedan barai you have to aim at a pencil held by one of the judges. The judge will move the pencil on a horizontal plane in front of you, sometimes moving it closer to you. You have to punch (reverse punch) as close as possible to the pencil without hitting it. Kiai on every punch. Don’t speed up and don’t just hammer like a robot.
Face 45 degrees and make front stance gedan barai on one side. Kick chudan mae geri and side yoko geri kekomi chudan – each kick by the count, about half speed. Do this twice. They will count for you. Then do the two kicks one count with full speed. They will count. Usually three times.
