April 22, 2006
Ithaca, NY
Overview:
The goal of the Ithaca Multicultural Business Symposium is to introduce prospective entrepreneurs from the underrepresented and disenfranchised communities in the Ithaca and Tompkins County areas to the multiplicity of services that are available to help them get their small business off of the ground. It will feature seminars on how to start a small business; the tax, legal, and regulatory issues entrepreneurs should know; a case study related to starting a small business; a Q&A panel discussion with successful local entrepreneurs; and a networking fair featuring all of the resources available to aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Multicultural Business Symposium is made possible through the cooperation of the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, the Roy H. Park Leadership Fellowship Program, the Ithaca Multicultural Resource Center, the Tompkins Trust Company, and the Triad Foundation.
Let’s hear about the experience directly from Adam Mesh, MBA 2007:
“At the 2006
Ithaca Multicultural Business Symposium, Jane and I staffed a table to
speak to small business owners starting out. It was a good symposium
and we spoke to about 20 people who are starting their own businesses
in and around the Ithaca area. We informed them on SHRLOE, who we are,
and our focuses. We also mentioned that we do consulting projects,
however we will likely not start up new projects until the fall.”
