Cornell Competes at National Championships

The Cornell Mens team traveled to Winter Park, CO last week to compete in the USCSA National Championships. During the regular season, the Men placed 2nd in their league behind Syracuse University. At Regionals (Elk Mountain, PA Feb 23-24) the Men took 2nd place earning a spot at Nationals. Kelsey Space '08 also qualified individually for the Women.
In Winter Park, difficult course sets led to numerous DNFs and DSQs in the GS and SL. Brandon Collins '08 fell in the 2nd run of the GS and suffered a hairline fracture to his fibula. He nevertheless skied the Slalom a day later and took 16th place. Chad Kossar, '08 fell as well in the GS and Bruce Hamlin '10 hiked to give the team 3 finishers. The Men held on to take 13th place in the Giant Slalom. After 2 DNFs again in the Slalom the Men took 10th place, finishing in 12th place overall.
The team is looking forward to a strong season next year, with none of the team's National Competitors graduating and several prospective students incoming. Check out the pictures section for updates from Nationals!
