In 1895, a group of Cornell women created a fraternity in which they named "Sennightly", after their meetings which occurred every 7 nights. The women felt inspired to be a part of something larger than their local group because they wanted to stay connected to one another after they left Cornell. The women chose to petition Delta Delta Delta for membership because it was the strongest and fastest growing national sorority.

On May 12th, 1912, Tri Delta's national representative, Hortenese Hudson, came to Ithaca to determine if the women of Sennightly reflected the ideals of Delta Delta Delta. She sponsored a dance to meet their gentlemen friends and a tea to meet their patronesses and faculty. Sennightly rose to the occasion and surpassed Ms. Hudson's expectations.

In June 1912, Delta Delta Delta determined that their Alpha Beta chapter would be established at Cornell University.

Ms. Hudson returned the following year in April and pledged the women in a grove of pine trees by moonlight. Installation was held three days later in the new Home Economics Building, with a kimono party following at Sage Dormitory.

Alpha Beta was housed at 626 Thurston Avenue(the current site of the Alumnae House) until 1965, when it moved to its present location at 118 Triphammer Road.

The Alpha Beta women of today are carrying on love and founding ideals of sisterhood of Sennightly and Delta Delta Delta, which are so important to each woman who has worn the TriDelta pin at Cornell University.
