Welcome to Women in Science at Cornell.

Women in Science at Cornell (WISC) supports Cornell women interested in science and related careers through opportunities for networking, career education, and community service. We also strive to increase the number of women entering science fields, and to raise public awareness of the contributions of women to science.

We hold monthly meetings, each with free food and a "woman in science" guest speaker from the Cornell and Ithaca community. We also volunteer at Ithaca Sciencenter, the Museum of the Earth, participate in many other campus and community events. In the past, we have sponsored a physician/veterinarian panel, a "couples in science" dinner, and helped raise money for the Ithaca Breast Cancer Alliance. In Spring 2005 we will be sponsoring a 5K run to help raise money for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation.

We need your time, talent, and energy to help build this organization!

We're having our second annual Terry Fox run!

On Sunday, April 23, 2006, Women in Science at Cornell will be putting on its second annual Terry Fox Run. The Terry Fox Run is an annual event in more than 50 countries that has raised over $360 million for cancer research since 1980. Cornell's second Terry Fox Run will be a 5km run/walk through the Cornell Arboretum. No fee to enter, nor any minimum for pledges collected, but participants are asked to try to raise and/or donate $20. Registration is held on the day of the run, beginning at 10:00am; the run will begin at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
